Right now, that is the $64,000 question. I suspect we will never know unless Jeremy decides to disclose it, and I doubt that he will. If it was an innocent over the counter drug, he would have been shouting it to the sky. Since he is not, I believe it was probably illegal. He probably needed to stay awake to get his car ready for the race…you know: small team, owner/driver, minimal $$$$, very few crew members…lots of work to finish before race day. I am not accusing, merely speculating possibilities.

If you were working at a local company and tested positively would you want them to hold a press conference and tell everyone what drug they found? No you wouldn’t and the company couldn’t do that without being liable for a privacy lawsuit.
Jeremy Mayfield can hold a press conference, can tell what Nascar said they found and can tell what medications he was taking. It’s up to Jeremy, if he’s innocent he should have nothing to hide.

  3. Jet Says:

Nascar will not release the name of the drug because they are giving Mayfield his privacy. However, Mayfield is free to say what it was. He claims it was a combination of Claritin D and a prescribed drug by his Dr. However, Dr. Black has said to JM and public the positive results of test A and B, had nothing to do with Claritin D. It’s down to JM said v. Nascar Dr. says. JM has hired an attorney.

I did a lot of reading yesterday due to rain delays and such!!!!! I think that NASCAR is waiting for Jeremy to take the lead on it. So far, its’ a he said, she said, they said type controversy. NASCAR is respecting Jeremy’s privacy. Jeremy has an attorney. As to what drug, NASCAR remains silent. They claim Jeremy was told by the NASCAR doctor. They claim Jeremy has never asked for the drug results paperwork. Jeremy denies this…………. Oh heck! I guess time will tell. Maybe, after the “big” meeting tomorrow….. I guess I’m getting tired of it. It just needs to be resolved. The entity who is wrong needs to step up and accept responsibility.

  5. xokahne9 Says:

they haven’t said and they probably never will.
but is anyone else tired of hearing this BS that it’s just over the counter?
jeremy should just realize he sucks! no one likes him or pays attention to him. so he can just give up NASCAR and do his “OTC” drugs somewhere else.
    its his own fault.

  6. fluffy Says:

They’re trying to say it was a “recreational drug”
which would mean it’s a “street drug”
They really should disclose that information to the public, or give up their petty little drug testing policy.

  7. wholesale swarovski crystals Says:

I don’t know why NASCAR is hiding the answer. They say it is for privacy, but I think there might be a second meaning. They should IMO release this information.

Beth/Jet are right! Maybe we will know when Jeremy wants to tell us otherwise Nascar is not gonna be stupid. If he’s innocent he should get a hair test, prove it. Then he’d be a Very Rich man. right?

  9. evan Says:

For Mayfield it was Advil. For anybody else pot or other harder drugs. No one should have to pee in a bottle. and I mean no one!

  10. Jeffy. Says:

It’s a private matter and none of our business.

  11. Cheap Logo Design Says:

coke!I mean Cocaine!!!No nascar will not let the cat out of the bag

  12. Aggressive White Hat SEO Says:

    we will never know.

  13. ICE Says:

Jeremy says it was Clariton D and a prescription drug. NASCAR says that their person who does the drug test (David Black) says that’s not true. It’s something else and NASCAR will not say what it was for privacy reasons.
