| Nascar Bottle Out The Window? |
8 Feb |
In today’s race, they show Greg Biffle, leading the race, during the last yellow, sipping from a water bottle, and then when he’s finished, I guess, he just throws it our the window. Why does he do that? And what happens to the bottle, which obviously is on the track after he throws it out?

they should have a regulation hydration system
Roush Fenway Racing needs to get their act together
or do we have to let the MoPar people be the innovators of that, too?

Drivers do that because they don’t need anything to distract them or potentially cause them to wreck as that bottle could get stuck under the gas or brake pedal or the bottle could even hit the driver and scare them. I noticed that as well but Biffle threw it out either in the grass so it would be out of the way or he threw it near the track clean-up crew so they could quickly get to the bottle.

All drivers do that, I have seen Carl Edwards, Jr, and even JJ do it in the past. It is much safer thrown out on the grass where the safety crew can get it, than to keep it in the car and it get wedges under the gas or brake. Or even fly out the car while under green.

i am sure that it is picked up by the clean up crew.
if not i am sure that it will get blown out of the groove by the aero from the cars .
i am sure he trew it out so it does not wind up rolling around in the floor pan and possibly getting under his feet.

That’s been done before, but mostly by a driver that needs a Caution to come out.
They have also thrown the foam out the window to get a Caution a few times if I remember right

Carl Edwards does that all the time.
Hes done it on the front stretch waiting for the green and I often wonder if it gets blown back on.
Good Question.
Good Answers.

I’m not sure exactly where Biffle was on the track when he threw out the bottle, but sometimes as they are coming by pit road, they toss it out there, so it can quickly be picked up by someone.

they get it out of the car not to take a chance on it blowing in the floor or anywhere around them.empty plastic will just blow to the inside wall. throw it out for safety.

It rolls to the apron and then probably onto the grass, where it is nabbed by the guy who mows the grass between races.

20 laps in a race car,
Forever in a landfill.
See all the above answers. Safety reasons.

I think he did that just to upset the tree-huggers.
