| Why Nascar Tracks Are Made Round? Do You Think If Have More Turns Is More Fun? Why They Make It Round? |
30 Apr |
There are a couple of reasons to answer this:
1. First, a 3,400 pound stock car does not make sharp turns well. A team can make every adjustment in the world and the driver still has to work his tail off to turn that car.
2. If you’re a road course fan I totally respect that but road courses don’t get as good of ratings as they would at Daytona, Talladega, Indianapolis, or Lowes Motor Speedway.Almost every road course race NASCAR has (Sonoma, Watkins Glen, and Mexico City) results in a car spinning out some how and then 3-4 laps under caution. There is not a consistent green flag run like there would be on a oval.
2. From a NASCAR fan’s standpoint at the track, why would you want a road course where you can’t see the whole track as opposed to an oval? Bristol is one of the most exciting races of the year and fills up 150,000 fans in the stands each time they race there. Most fans there can see all of the action. Road courses tend to be rather large and can be at changing elevations like Sonoma which can be good and bad.
3. A lot of NASCAR drivers do not like road courses. Owners will bring in road course specialists like Boris Said and Scott Pruett to race their cars because most drivers do not have enough experience. And if they do, does not mean they will absolutely do well.
I hope this answers your question. I don’t hate road courses, but there are reasons NASCAR does not run on them more often as opposed to ovals.
